Last summer, I noticed a bump that was growing right above my left breast. It worried my mother and I so we got it checked out. It turned to be just an extra bone that cannot cause me any harm (My doctor gave me the name of it but now I can't remember, sorry!). It hasn't grown in awhile, but people are starting to notice it more and more, and honestly it's starting to make me nervous. I've never really had any problems with the way I look, but this has made me so self-conscious! This is totally unlike me.

My doctor talked about a surgery that I could get to remove this. I know I'm not giving much detail but if anyone has had this surgery and can tell me about it, that would be great!
Thanks!

Is it called Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (Fibromyalgia) it means "soft connective tissue that progressively turns to bone."
Extra bone formation in the chest region in your body, if you have FOP limits the ability of the chest wall to expand during breathing. It could be a problem down the line for you. However, I would get a 2nd opinion before you get your surgery.

I actually have a similar thing. Ive had a bump right in the "V" of my chest since I was little. I asked my doctor about it as a kid and he told me it was just an extra bone some people have. That was 15 years ago and I still have had no problems because of it. I'd recommend getting a 2nd opinion if it helps ease you. I plan on mentioning it to my new doctor during my next visit, just to see what he thinks. But I really don't think surgery would be necessary. I've lived with it almost my whole life with no problems.
