anything that has to do with drawing blood..like needles, razors, box cutters..I am SO afraid of them that i have to avoid them at all costs.

the thing is i used to be a "cutter" for 7 years and have stopped and never went back to that habit again.

do you think i avoid those things because they remind me of a painful past that i want to forget????

Maybe you are afraid now because you may see the blood and be tempted to go back to old behaviors. good for you that you have stopped. Keep up the good work.

"Do you think I avoid those things because they remind me of a painful past ..?" Yes. But that is only part of it. The act of cutting is what you are afraid of and you have projected that fear onto these implements. All of those things are common and useful and you will have to see them from time to time. Needles will be used when you need your blood tested and to give you medicine. This phobic reaction has to be addressed before it causes you more problems. Please talk with someone.
