I prefer to have my answer picked by the asker. That is the only really meaningful way. Most people just vote for a quick point here or there.

I think a lot of people just look up their old answers that are in voting and go vote for the own. Very few people actually vote (only worth 1 point).
Most questions are about a problem. How can any voter know wether your idea/solution/answer works for the asker's specific situation? I'm much happier when I'm picked by the asker.
