I know they are the same thing, just some people don't.

I can't go on Wikipedia, b/c it is unreliable.

Both, because they are both the same thing.

Everyone (except you) knows they are the same thing, and everyone (except you until now) knows that even if you don't want to cite wikipedia, it is full of links to other sites on the topic.

You think random people here are more authoritative then wikipedia? Maybe you should really have a discussion with your teacher about wikipedia and see if you understood correctly, or if they know about it from use or just what they were told to parrot to you. And ask if they think random people will give you more specific facts then wikipedia wrt this topic.

Since you are not growing up to be a parrot, then have a mind of your own and use wikipedia as a jumping off point.

On the whole, you will find it is fair and balanced, and a fine summary of what you will find elsewhere.

Really.

Experience using it and checking for that will show you that that is the case.

You might even start writing for articles and topics that interest you yourself someday :)

The best source is at www.deathpenaltyinfo.org.
You don't have to sympathize with criminals or want them to avoid a terrible punishment to ask if the death penalty prevents or even reduces crime and to think about the risks of executing innocent people.

125 people on death rows have been released with proof that they were wrongfully convicted. DNA is available in less than 10% of all homicides and isn’t a guarantee we won’t execute innocent people.

The death penalty doesn't prevent others from committing murder. No reputable study shows the death penalty to be a deterrent. To be a deterrent a punishment must be sure and swift. The death penalty is neither. Homicide rates are higher in states and regions that have it than in states that don’t.

We have a good alternative. Life without parole is now on the books in 48 states. It means what it says. It is sure and swift and rarely appealed. Life without parole is less expensive than the death penalty.

The death penalty costs much more than life in prison, mostly because of the legal process which is supposed to prevent executions of innocent people.

The death penalty isn't reserved for the worst crimes, but for defendants with the worst lawyers. It doesn't apply to people with money. When is the last time a wealthy person was on death row, let alone executed?

The death penalty doesn't necessarily help families of murder victims. Murder victim family members across the country argue that the drawn-out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative.

Problems with speeding up the process. Over 50 of the innocent people released from death row had already served over a decade. If the process is speeded up we are sure to execute an innocent person.

I think the death penalty wouldn't be the capital punishment. the only thing worse than death is being tortured to the brim of death then being taken care of just to be tortured again. Or what we call "interrogation".

Yes, the United States practices the death penalty and supports the right of individual countries to choose whether to have it or not.

mutually as what's happening with using scientific marijuana is a foul element (my mom makes use of it and no, i do no longer want to verify her in penitentiary) it somewhat is an extremely diverse tale than the stoning of the Kurd lady and can't be compaired. those all of us isn't being sentenced to a painful demise with the aid of fact they fell in love with somebody of a various faith...it is with the aid of fact they chosen to apply a drug (plant or no longer plant) it somewhat is unlawful. while they offered the drug they chosen to take the possibility of going to penitentiary by making use of breaking the regulation. Stoning is a protracted and grousome way of thrashing somebody to demise. human beings p.c.. up rocks and throw them at you till you're so overwhelmed which you die. no longer something which you reported is any the place close to as brutal with the aid of fact the government over seeing a individual get stoned to demise. i'm not sure of the case getting used as an occasion yet in lots of cases this occurs bc the guy took area in pre-marital intercourse and 'shamed' the kinfolk. those are reported as honor killings. you have reported the undesirable issues that ensue in our us of a yet i'm proud to stay in a rustic that does no longer condone stoning as a suitable form of punishment. I recommend which you watch a stoning and then attempt to assert that it may evaluate to something you reported. Your connection with our 'defective equipment' is dated, that's no longer a cutting-edge situation. You reported church and state....properly she grow to be stoned with the aid of fact of a religous rule, it is with little doubt, so there you bypass. I refuse to apply the term 'civilized' with the aid of fact it is loaded and is interpreted in yet in any different case by making use of each reader. even if, earlier you're making such accusations of the US being worse than international locations who're greater desirable than prepared to stone young women to demise with the aid of fact of what you indexed I relatively recommend you get some greater training and open your eyes to governments worldwide extensive. I see what you're asserting, i do no longer agree and your argument is vulnerable. God Bless u.s. and would he help the damaging souls who're being tourtured in different international locations. *You extra that no longer all states grant leathal injection. Then what are you asserting they do? putting? electric powered chair? they do no longer look to be in use anymore...as of 1998 the electrical powered chair has been retired.*
