I havent ready any of the Harry Potter books. It looks pretty corny too me. I prefer more European historical books.

I didn't like the books at all. I couldn't get through the first book and my friends say "just get past that one and they'll get exciting." and then I read some of the second and third book (this was a long time ago) and my friends said "oh, it doesn't get any good until the 4th book." Why would I read a series that isn't good until half way through? Also, the plot doesn't appeal to me. Wizzard school where Harry does everything wrong, but gets awarded points for it? It isn't very realistic and it seems like Harry is God or something because everything is around him and he solves it and him, him, him. I know he is the main character, but once, can he be left out of something? Is it ever Malfoy's, Hermionie's, or Ron's deal? I don't know, I just don't like the writing style, the characters, the plot, or anything about it. It is hard to find someone who doesn't like them though. How blind people are.

I can totally respect people's opinion. Harry Potter is not for everyone. That's cool. It would be a bit weird if everyone in the entire world enjoyed Harry.
But I do have to strongly disagree with one post about Harry Potter is limited to those below the age of 12. With all the violence and conflict in books 5-7 (especially in 7 where people die left and right) I would warn people below the age of 12 about it. Adult versions of the book are publised in the UK, which I found interesting.

I respect your opinion. Not everybody can like the same thing. Actually, HP isn't too heavy into fantastical elements (aside from the focus on magic). But if you don't care for that, and you still want to read fantasy, you could try Tolkien's works. They're more organic, so to speak, and don't contain "fantasy elements" that are in HP.

Nah.... I hate harry potter - its so over rated
I think that in most cases if a movie series puts out more then 1 movie then they are usually rubbish ( with a few exceptions)
For instance with shreck 1 was awsum and shreck 2 wasnt good at all.......

Nope. I hate Harry Potter too. I personally think it sucks.
As well as the same reasons why you hate it.
I thought I was the only one too.

I know people who don't like it, but for most people it's for ridiculous religious reasons as opposed to having read it and not liking it.
I don't think I've met anyone who actually read it and didn't like it.
If it's the cover that gets to you try reading the British version, the covers are different :)

No. Those books are written on like a fourth grade level. Anyone over 12 who enjoys those books is a moron. Sorry, Jake! (my brother likes Harry Potter books).
