Yeah, I have to agree with you. I've heard some theories that Nintendo is holding back on how many Wii's they supply to sellers to make the demand higher. And I've heard also that Nintendo can't supply enough Wii's to meet demand. I really don't know which one to believe.
The only reason why the Wii is so popular is because it's so cheap and the motion sensing in all of the games. But most of the games for the Wii just suck. The Wii is basically a console for children and casual gamers, but some people buy Wii's just to own one.
I guess that Nintendo realized that they didn't want to compete with Sony and Microsoft to try to be the most powerful console with awesome graphics.

I think the Wii is marketed towards casual gamers more than serious hardcore gamers who would greatly prefer Xbox 360 or PS3. Of course, the PS3 is only starting to get a number of decent games, whereas the Xbox 360 has had over a year to build up some worthwhile games, so that can be an unfair comparison right now.
Basically, the Wii is for people who aren't "gamers", but would like to play a few games more complicated than Solitaire or Minesweeper. Plus, as an old school gamer, I have to give them credit for finally getting right what they tried to do twenty years ago with the Power Glove.

*sigh* as much as I hate to admit it...i do too. I preordered my Wii when it came out last year and loved Wii Sports but have been amazingly dissapointed with the games for it thus far ESPECIALLY Umbrella Chronicles. I only really enjoyed the Sims Castaway but that was a really short game.
Santa is bringing the kids Mario Galaxy and I am really hoping that will turn it around for me.
I considered buying a PS3 but there are really no games on it. Dissapointing console, really. And the fact that you have to buy a more expensive console to play PS2 games on it really made me hate Sony.
But the Xbox is my electronic crack--I own the original white one and the black Elite. Yes they are problematic with overheating and freezing but I would probably buy 50 of them if I had to. and don't get me started on Xbox Live. Better than sex, that thing is.

Gaming isny supposed to a "Job" to tire out your eyes! and make you lose your wife or make you get bad grades in school OMFG! Why dont you understand this!
The Wii stays true to the image Nintendo gave back in the 80s and 90s, That gaming is supposed to be a fun experience that is supposed to be enjoyed
Mario Galaxy isnt for little kids ... are you just sour that halo 3 isnt that awesome anymore? Nintendo has owned the gaming industry since October of 2006 when the Wii was first released.
You will be sooooo God Dang sad when Super Smash Bros: Brawl comes out in Feb. and you here how it got the best ratings for a game ever! Then you will totally change your mind about the Wii ... Thought Super Mario Galaxy should have changed your mind about the Wii already ...
Ha!

Wii kinda sucks, and is slightly overrated, better games on PS3/Xbox 360, but Xbox breaks too much, so PS3 :P
