Fake...mostly because I have allergies and can't live with a real tree inside for a month. But the fake ones are less expensive in the long run because you can reuse them, aren't as much of a fire hazard, and you don't have to keep cleaning up pine needles.

I don't do it for the environment...you people saying it saves the planet to use a fake tree are not thinking this through. When your fake tree breaks or you decide to get a new one it will go right into a landfill. They aren't cutting down the rainforest for Christmas trees, people. Most real trees come from tree farms and are grown for that purpose. They are biodegradable and the tree farm will plant another one in its place next year. If you're so environmentally conscious, buy a real tree. I'd just prefer my nose didn't swell shut and my house doesn't burn down.

Fake

If you go fake you can re-use it thereby saving you money.
Fake ones also have the chance of having asbestos or some lead on them...this was all research I saw on the news.

They say it is more environmentally friendly to get a real one though. This was in the study too. I was shocked but it did make sense..since the trees can be recycled and they grow new ones in the place of the ones that were cut down.

I have used artificial trees for the last 18 years (the pre-lit ones) because they are easy and look nice, and I don't have to pick up needles, but mostly because nobody in the house has an allergic reaction to them.

They don't last forever, however. This year I just got my fourth, so they have been about 4 years each or a little more.

I love a real tree, the smell, the nostalgia...but I also love Christmas lights. I was taught to prevent Forrest fires so I go for fake.

Well ....Even we are brought up with some Story behind the Christmas tree in our grade books or as told by elders, but I definitely feel that there must have been some mystery.
so I think upto some extent it is real(i mean real Story).

Take care

We had to get a fake tree when we got a cat cos my Dad thought she would spray on it and electricute herself but I think it is much better having a fake one cos you don't have to keep hoovering up the needles and you can re use it.

Its tradition for me to go real.. great grandparents and all that. Then again each of us plants another including the little ones so you end up getting 2 or 3 times more than chopped.
