Gotta be choosey with this one. I only get one fruitcake a year, but all year long I deal with fruitcakes. Not the same, eh, wot?
Actually, we've found that the fruitcake works great as a kedge anchor. Just right for draggin' over the seabed when we need to hang out without lowering the big job, and if we have to cut it loose, no one minds so much. Just a bit of disappointment about the lost cable, is all.
Might be worse if the cake was any kind of eating. Then it would break up and melt faster on the seabed.
Ah, well, soon my sister-in-law will have a replacement for us.

I like to put it on my teachers desk. Not as a goody two shoes thing. They just aren't expecting to sit down to a fruitcake. Or better yet, sit ON the fruitcake. lol.

Funny you said that... before I read your details, I was going to say I use it to chock the wheels on my car when I need to repair a flat. Door stop, chock -- both are the simple machines we know as wedges.

My husband actually asked me to make him one a couple of years ago, which I did. He ate half and enjoyed it (he said) and I put the other half in the freezer for later.
It's still there.

When I park on a hill, I put it in front of the front tire, so the car won't roll.
