I have already asked this but I did not get to many answerers and wanted to get more. So I want to start using tampons and I think the only way to feel at ease about using them is by talking to my doctor about them and hearing her opinion. I am really shy when it comes to talking about these sort of things so I was wondering if this would be a good way to word my questions. " If I ask you a question your not going to tell my mom right? Well I was wondering what your opinion on tampons is and if you would recommend them to girls my age?" (14 years old) I want to ask but would it be stupid to ask? Also I am not going to talk to my mother about this, she already said I could start using them. The reason for asking my doctor is so that I am not so nervous.

that is a perfectly reasonable question to ask your doctor.

I don't really understand your question. Are you asking us whether you should go to your doctor? Personally, tampons are a life saver and I don't know what I would do without them, and I would hurry up and start using them lol. My mom's a school nurse and she totally agrees with me when I say that it is fine for you to start using them. I'm 14 too and I started using them when I was 13, on my second ever period lol. I was sick of the pad rustling in the restrooms :P It takes a bit of practice to get them in for the first time (applicator ones are the best for first time users) and now I can get them in with my eyes shut. Actually, I could do that after about 2 months lol. I love tampons, and I think you should totally use them, after all, a girls body is mature enough to use tampons on their first period (I don't understand that but it means that you can use tampons whenever you want lol). Hope this helps xo
P.S. If you have any worried or questions or anything at all don't hesitate to email me *hugs*

Don't bring your mother into the equation, wearing a tampon isn't something that the doctor needs to share. Simply state, "I want to start wearing tampons, is that advisable at my age? Also, I am uncomfortable with putting it in the first time, do you have any pointers?"

Just so you know, I started wearing tampons at 13 (34 years ago) and have never had a problem. A tip though, NEVER wear super absorbent tampons (the toxic shock thing). If your flow is heavy, try a regular tampon and a light pad.

Good luck, C-ya

I am 13 and my cycle is heavy one month, then light the next. I use tampons and pads at the same time to prevent leaks. Tampons are perfectly OK as long as you don't leave them in for over 8 hours. T.T.T.S is nothing you have to sear sully fret over. As long as you change at least every 8 hours (change more often if your cycle is heavy) you should be perfect fine. And don't worry getting ust to tampons takes practice.

if youre not sure youre ready to use them then you're not.
dont push it.
the first time i tried(10 years ago) ha, it hurt like hell and i wasnt ready and i knew it.

so i waited and then one day i tried with the real small ones and it was fine. it just takes time to get use to the feeling.

you and a friend can try at the same time. hah. me and my friend did. seems weird but we didnt know and we wanted to not do it alone. but i wasnt ready that time. but still you could do that if youre nervous.

and anyway if youre nervous it wont go in. you have to be relaxed.

its not stupid. many girls ask just to make sure their"cherrys wont pop" or in other words the thin tissue inside yourself. my friend has started using them since she was 11. you will probably be okay. but to make yourself calmer just ask your doctor.
