I woke up with a small red patch that is near the opening of my vagina. It is sore and looks like dry skin. There are no bumps. Should I be worried or could it it just be irritated?

Just sounds like irritation due to the lack of lubrication.

Sometimes when you have intercourse for a prolonged period of time, the vaginal opening or walls start to become desensitized (only temporarily! don't worry!) and you stop producing any natural lubricant. Some women have trouble producing any natural lubricant at all.

Do not be embarrassed by this, it happens to many of us!

If you plan on having intercourse for a prolonged time again, I would suggest keeping some water-based lubricant on hand, just in case. Sometimes using a pre-lubricated condom also helps.

Do not use an oil based lubricant, or flavoured body oil, or vaseline, or anything like that, because it can cause more irritations, and can also cause condoms to degrade, increasing the risk of a broken condom.

Hope this helps!

It sounds like irritation. If dryness is a problem you should try KY or some other product like that. I would wait a few days till I engage in sexual activities to make sure you heal.
If sex is painful even with lube you might want to see a doctor to make sure nothing is wrong or try other position where you can control how deep he penetrates you.

Prolonged sex??? I gather you mean you had sex for a loooong time???, if so, then the answer is yes, it can be from irritation and depending on how long you know this guy I would be more concerned with getting him to wear a condom so as to prevent any STD's or further mystery rashes. I would recommend you visit your GYNO and discuss this with them to rule out anything serious.
Hope this helps.
Get your supply of condoms and leave them handy so there's no room for excuses.

probably just irritation, avoid intercourse until the irritation is gone. Next time you participate in prolonged sexual activity make sure you have some KY jelly on hand.
