Let's forget the election of 1964 between liberal Democrat LBJ who supported civil rights and conservative Republican Barry Goldwater who supported "state-rights", for now.

Why do blacks vote Democrat, cons?

Relate your explanation to the fact that black voters have free-will and know what they stand for. Don't just blame Democrats as if black people can't think for themselves.

Conservatives see humanity in terms of social constructs. Doing so enhances their sense of security, even if that sense of security is a false one. They like hierarchy and established institutions and social stability.

So, of course people who DON'T want to be viewed with such narrow-mindedness are going to vote Democrat.

I'm not African-American, but as a member of another minority, I'll do my best to respond.
Traditionally the Democratic party has been representive of the common man, and it's no secret that the huge majority of the wealthy in this country are white and male.
It's an unfortunate fact though that the lines of separation between the two parties are becoming increasingly blurred. I think it's up to all of us---African-Americans, Native Americans, and every other forward-thinking American---to demand a change and support a third-party candidate. Neither Democrats nor Republicans will shape up until we have a viable third party.

Unfortunately, a large percentage of blacks are followers of the Jesse Jackson mentality which says that all blacks are "victims" and that they should receive special treatment.

Democrat politicians play into this by using the "victim" card and trick blacks into believing that they are the ones that are looking out for them and that they will provide them with the biggest welfare checks.

This is "smart" politics by the Democrats, as long as they can keep blacks thinking that they are dependent on the Democrats they have a voting block that will keep them winning a lot of elections.

I think this is about to change... I think more and more blacks are realizing that they've been used by the Democratic Party and they're tired of being lied to.

They are beginning to realize that Bill Cosby is telling them the truth and if they want to achieve the American dream that they have to start taking responsibility for themselves.

I vote conservative and cross all party lines if the person running on a certain ticket is better qualified than the opposing candidates.

because they want to stick together, barack could be the worst candidate but its a matter of having your ethnicity in office that sounds appealing i mean if you were a minority (which you probably are now that asians are the majority) wouldnt you want to see your man get in, now i'm not one for black power, but not because i dont like black people that has nothing to do with it, its because this country was founded by white people i mean i dont want an asian president because they arent american i dont care how long they have lived here, and please dont report me because i have not said anything hateful i have only said my opinion
