An employer can fire you for any reason or for no reason at all in an "employment at will" state. However, if the firing was based on discrimination based on national origin, gender, religion, creed, age (over 40), etc., then the employer might have violated federal law. If you think that your situation fits any of the above, you should contact your local EEOC or see an attorney.

Yes, Utah is a right to work state and an employer can fire you for any reason.

Yes.

Utah is an "employment at will" State. You can be fired for no reason, and can quit for no reason. If the lack of a reason is a pretext for an illegal reason, though, that's different.

Obviously there IS a reason - the boss isn't obliged, though, to tell you what it is.

(To the other answerer - "Right to work" is a different thing altogether, having to do with forced Union membership.)

yes you can be fired. but anyone wouldn't just fire you for no reason. u must have done something, said something, or thought some [lol] and they just wanted to fire you because of it.
