Public assistance is managed on a state-to-state basis, though it is federally funded.
Many states have interactive calculators so that you can see if you qualify and for how much if you do. I suggest doing a search with your state & food stamp calculator.
The one for WIsconsin allows you to find eligibility for several programs (medical assistance, food stamps, child care assistance, WIC, energy assistance, etc)

While the first 2 answers are accurate, the BEST answer is NO ONE knows. There are so many separate government agencies whose sole purpose is to give away taxpayer money, that NONE of them can actually identify the total amount given to any given individual. Many, if not most of the recipients don't actually know how much they receive. Of those that do, a good number are scamming the system and would lie about the total if asked.

It varies. When applying for food stamps and other aid, they ask about your monthly rent or mortgage, utility bills, how many adults and children are living in the house and so many other things as well. It also depends on what state you are living in too.

I would think it depends on the size of the family and what state they live in? I also don't think they get actual stamps anymore. Don't they get a card that they swipe like a credit card? They do here, anyway.
