ROFL...this question made me smile!

Well, waaaaay back in the 60's and 70's (yes I know, a billion years ago), that word was used to describe something with many colors, like a tie-dyed t-shirt (which originated back then). I don't remember the whole thing behind who started it, etc., but that if you see old album covers from back then, you will see what I am talking about.

It means a "phantasmagoric" of colors. Vivid colors that blend together to make a visual experience that brings you into another state of mind
