In the Raven what is the raven suppose to symbolise? I feel so dumb but i don't really understand old writings : (

The raven symbolises the loss of love and the bird serves as a reminder of Lenore whom the persona cannot forget. The bird reminds him that she can never return.

I started crying last year when I read that poem because I was so scared... not even lying... we were in class and i was tearing up and my friend was like, why are you cry, and i said, this is a scary poem. and I could sleep at night.

I always thought that it most likely represented death. In essence death is knocking at his door, becoming more of a threat each time it returns to him.

ur luckky mi teacher wazz just talkin about thiss.. he resembles deathh.. and if he lets the ravenn in iht means that ihtt will kill himm... lolzz depressing much? lolz i didnt get it wen mi teacher was talkin about iht eitherr..
