Barry Manilow is better than most entertainers for his name still draws a crowd after all these years. I think he is one step above Michael Bolton, per say, or maybe even two. He seems like a nice guy with lots of money with a million dollar smile. Musically he is no revolutionary, if I was to rate him like in the movies he would be General Admissions, there is just no "racy" in Manilow. Great pianist and very capable of writing pleasing tunes. A perfect lounge act! The Demographics I believe say that his target age audience is between 45 up to late 60's. Mostly well to do folks, easy, comfortable in their walks of life, extremely law abiding and all the other perks. I think that Barry is just swell, Just Swell!

I think he is a very nice man that has a lot of talent but is given a hard time by a lot of people. However, he has enough of a fan base that his distractors mean nothing to him because he is still bringing in the bucks. Am I a fan of his? No. However, I love music and can recognize talent when I hear it and see it. I also love how many of the people who give him a hard time are hard rockers and if you take one look at those hard rock recording dudes and their makeup and perky lips you must wonder about them as well.

I saw him interviewed once and he said, "I loved music from an early age". I thought, "Then why didnt you go into music?".
Lets put it this way. Real musicians think of Barry Manilow what real vampires think of Count Chocula.

The Copacabana is a great song. He's not gay, married, has a daughter. He's kind of kitschy, but he has written a ton of great songs. And I don't think that because I'm older than 21, 31, 41, umm ... 45. Personally, I don't like them but they always top the charts. He doesn't sing all of them. Like I said, The Copacabana is a great song.

Look past the preconceptions, the guy is a fantastic singer/songwriter, some will say cheesy but that kind of thing takes a lot of talent. Her name was Lola........

I've wondered this myself. He's such a weird guy. His songs are just so dorky. But I hear he's a super nice person. Dont know what to think of him, really. Is he gay?
