Gel & Felt tip & sometimes an old blue Bic ballpoint

Personally, I rather dislike Staedtler, but I enjoy using their pens (known as "pigment liners"). I tend to only use 3 pens: 0.05 for the super-fine details, 0.3 for normal outlines and a 0.7 for the thick lines.

It really depends on the artist's preferences. Each pen is slightly different, but you might also want to take cost into consideration.

I find Sakuron is quite easy to use, and even has some colours other than black.

Hope I helped.

One that works.

I'll use about anything than makes a mark. I was at lunch meeting and did some sketches with a straw, glass of wine and a cloth napkin. I did with a straight face but inside was laughing the whole time. They were a bit taken back.

Do you mean 'markers' or pen? Ball point, or ink? If you mean ball point and/or ink, then Monte Blanc is the ultimate in writing intruments. I have them and consider them as jewelry in my shirt pocket when dressed casual.

Or, on a more moderate scalel, Parker, Waterman, and a few others are high quality writing instruments. All of these include 'pride of ownership'. If they are above your means, Bic, Papermate and a few others are very good products.

I mainly use brushes and don't really care that much what pen I use when I have to.
