I dont know where you live, But A lot of people get more depressed in the winter months, largely because of less sunshine. They say going to a tanning booth or getting some of those sunlight lightbulbs can help. There really is a condition called "arctic blue" that people living near the Earths poles get, when there is no sun for a few months. I always get a little depressed in the winter. But good news, The shortest day of the year is Dec. 21, (the winter solstice), After you make it past that, the days get longer (althought the weather gets worse for awhile) but at least there are more minutes of sunlight each day.

There are alot of things going on in this world that may cause someone to feel sad. It may help to talk about what you feel with your parents or an understanding friend. Keep busy and try new hobbies, but more importantly prayer is helpful. Seeking further help is a personal decision each person must make on their own.
When I feel down, I read the bible and pray alot. Why? Because Jehovah God actually cares for us and he does answer prayers. Here are some verses :
Psalms 55:22 - "Throw your burden upon Jehovah, and he himself will sustain you..."
Phillipenses 4: 6, 7 - "do not ..(worry)... let your petitions be known to God... and the peace of God... will guard your hearts and your mental ability..."
Psalms 34:18 - "Jehovah is near to those who have broken hearts, and saves those who are crushed in spirit..."
Psalms 121: 1, 2 "I will raise my eyes to the mountain, from where will my help come? My help will come from Jehovah, the maker of the heavens and the earth..."
(Psalm 51:17 - "A heart broken and crushed, O God, you will not despise."
Psalm 94:17-19, 22 this verse talks about "disquieting thoughts".....
There are tons of more verses that show that even the servants of God in the past felt sad, but Jehovah always helped them through any situation.
At times people have circumstances that can't change. But Jehovah helps one through it.
Keep the chin up and remember you are not alone, but soon sadness will disappear.
Revelations 21:4 ' .. and there will be no more pain... nor outcry... nor tears... for the former things have passed away...
:)

It sounds normal to be depressive now and then. But since your depression last for weeks at a time, maybe you should talk to someone.
If you don't know a good doctor or have the money to afford one, they have free counselors for every type of depression. Just call the doctor referral services in your area and they will find you a good doctor with little or no fee.

anything in particular thats bringing u down, u need to fix. but if you are sad for no reason, which is depression, well there could be a number of reasons.
1- your hormone levels are different and need to be changed, so go c ur doc
2-you are not eating a balanced diet, or eating much at all, which can screw with your brain chemistry asit did mine when i was younger, so adjust your diet, and you will feel happier.
3-you are a teenager, in which case, # 1 and 2 are probably affecting you, and if u are really worried, go see your doc, but if u feel you can change things without help, then go for it. its up to you, but think hard.

You may be suffering to some degree from bipolar disorder. If it's really affecting you, you should see a professional or speak to your parents about it.
There isn't (or should be) any stigma associated with depression; the happiest and most "normal" of us are affected by it, for varying reasons that we typically can't control

if there isn't any reason for you to be depressed, or if you don't think you suffer from depression it could be something with your hormones, i'm not a doctor but there are a lot of reasons women have problems and it could involve when you have your period and when you ovulate, i guess severe cases of pms, i believe its called pstd (not sure on spelling) you should ask your doctor!! good luck!

If the depression comes in cycles related to your monthly cycles at the same time every month, you could be experiencing premenstrual dysphoric disorder. I would talk to my doctor and get their opinion if I were you.

I would advise you to talk to your doctor. It sounds like hormonal to me.
In my experience I had severe problems do to hormonal imbalance when I developed a prolapsed uterus. I finally had to have a hysterectomy to "fix" my problem cause I was depressed 100% of the time.

I don't think anything is wrong with you. Maybe just something happens to you and you start to feel down.. Or maybe that something in the past has reminded you and you start to feel down too. Everyone gets depressed.
