I mean whether you are a footballer or an average Joe down on his luck - if you have confidence you can achieve the impossible, if not then it can be hard even to boil an egg (not literally of course)

Adding on to this do you think its possible for a person to have total confidence in one thing but in another they are totally hopeless?

Confidence is very important. Because it means you believe you can do something. And if you believe it, you ll probably do someday.
And yes, I think it is possible for someone to be really confident on one subject and not at all confident on another. And it is normal as well.

Living without confidence is like living without soul. With no confidence you can't experience life the way others do, you don't have the motivation because you don't have the faith to do it. Whether its going out and making friends or getting a project done confidence is very important to have a fun and interesting life. I am saying this because i have no confidence and wish i did.

I think it IS terrible to have no confidence. Too many people live in fear of failure that they fail to discover their own greatness.
