California has an open primary where one can vote for anyone they like.
Colorado is forcing you to adopt a party. I think that is wrong.

Yes. In CT, you have to be registered in the party to vote in the primary. Also you cannot switch parties D to R or R to D within 6 months of a primary.
Some states have open primaries where democrats can vote in Republican caucuses or primaries.

My state used to allow us to vote in the primaries without being registered as a party member. The political parties took WA to court and won. Now, only registered members of a political party can participate in that party's primary election.

Yes. The primaries for the Republican and Democrat parties in the State of Washington are closed to all but those that identify as members of those parties. If you think about it, that makes sense. Should a Green party member be able to select the candidate for the Republican party?

No, we can vote in either Democrat or Republican primaries. I don't think this should be allowed. Check out the page below:

That is specific to every state. That is called a closed caucus. You must be a member of that party to enter its caucus.
