Yes, it is 'normal'. Some people feel him/her sooner, others much later. It depends on how your baby is lying, where your placenta is, etc.
Try not to worry too much. You will feel kicking soon if you already felt movement.

I didn't feel anything until 20 weeks. You can try laying down and just focusing on your tummy and nothing else. There is a chance you could feel little movements, but often we don't get to feel anything the first time until 20-22 weeks. Your boyfriend is probably right about the doppler. You don't want to stress yourself out right now, and sometimes even the doctor can have a tough time finding a heartbeat. You'd be worrying over nothing if you didn't find the beat.

You won't feel actual "kicks" until the later 2nd trimester.

I felt little flutters and squirms when I was 16 weeks pregnant but I don't remember serious kicks and movements until I was around 24 weeks or more.

I think I felt the first movements when I was about 18-20 weeks. They weren't really KICKS, but more like flutters kind of. I don't really know how to explain it. But if you haven't felt them yet, don't worry, you will soon and eventually.

It's completely normal,... no worries, You should start feeling movements around this time and kicks will come as the baby gets stronger and bigger

Yes, it's normal. Just give yourself a couple of weeks and even a month from now you'll be wishing your baby wasn't kicking you so much. It's so much fun though.

Month 4 or month 5 is when quickening (kicking) is first felt.

no that is normal you will feel tiny little tingels in your stomach at this stage dont worry about it.
As your child grows it will give you some really good kicks and then you will know its kicking

Yes it is normal. Most babies don't start to really kick until they're 5mths.
