20 years ago. Imagine primary schools not having a nativity play, pantomimes not allowed to throw sweets for kids to scramble for, fun it is called. Police being taken to court on health and safety issues. A government that has removed itself from basic common sense decisions and appears to run with whatever they believe is the flavour of he moment simply to curry favour with the population.
What daft things do you think has been made compulsory by this shower over the last 10 years of government?

Your question makes no sense. Britain isnt losing its way, there is no "way". These are all seperate issues. if you want kids to have a nativity play then send them to a faith based school, or have one at home. Schools that have dropped nativity plays "might" be trying to avoid making non christian children feel overwhelmed with someone elses religious views, i mean they are kids. Health and safety may make enforcing the law more difficult but too many cases have come up where officers of the law have exhibited incompetance or even corruption, so maybe having them follow procedure isnt so bad in the long run and the government just want to stay in power and will say anything. Most of what they say is either a outright lie or information to misdirect your attention. This is not a secret, its a glaringly obvious fact we all know.

It's not just Britain. The same craps going on in the States.

Our schools here can't even have a "Christmas break" any more - it's a "Winter break" so as not to offend non-Christians.

There's even a lawsuit been filed to try to force the State of California to remove crosses from the seals of all cities.

Many of the cities in CA started life as Catholic mission outposts, and these cities - such as Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco etc - have city seals that reflect this historical reality - but the anti-church groups want them removed.

Fascinating and irritating isn't it, this headlong insistence on "political correctness" which seems to sweep all common sense before it. Personally, I'd like to know two things:

a] What has it to do with politics?

b] Who says what's correct?

We have some Muslim friends, very devout, who are disappointed at the local school's insistence on effectively banning reference to Christmas - they say it takes some magic away from the season for the little children, including theirs.

Mind you, we recently had a newly elected councillor, a pushy lady of adamant opinions, who wanted the council to rename manholes as "operative access apertures". She got shouted down by the entire remainder of the council who effectively told her not to be so damned silly. She wasn't re-elected.

Then, when you buy a new kettle and it comes with a label stuck on it which says "Caution - may become hot in use" . . .

Successive governments have had us walking down the yellow brick road, paved with gold they would have us believe,
we survived for over two thousand years with just a small needed immigrant populating ,working with Europe,
then some twats or other decided to form the common market and then the EU, then the British twats decided without a referendum that we needed to be in the middle of this diarrhoea concoction of second rate toss--p-ts who couldn't agree on the colour of sh-te,
and Britain was mortally wounded, England is dying in front of our eyes Wales and Ireland will follow, Scotland may gain Independence and hold on for a bit longer,
common sense is a no no word, your question drops hints of the truth, this country will not unify or integrate we will be out-breed by our middle eastern Asian Islamic guests helped by the father less delinquents that roam in gangs and take over the streets at night,

God save us the politicians wont.

I stand corrected, what i should have said is that Ted Heath backed heavily by the tabloid press, lied through his back teeth about the virtues of joining the EEC and tricked a very ill-informed and gullible British public into reluctantly backing him, thanks PH for your polite correction

Parents not being allowed to take photos at school plays because they might be perverts. (Even though official school photos are available from the photographer for general purchase.)

Trying to forbid imperial measurements from being present on packaging and force product sizes to change to fit metric standards (eg must be sold in half kilos, rather than 450g/225g which is roughly equivalent to 1/1.5lbs) Luckily that one fell through, but it got too close for comfort!

Changing fire extinguishers to all red with the type written on, rather than using the old colour codes - with fewer and fewer English speakers in the UK, this is ridiculous. Also in darkness/smoke and panic how are u supposed to read it?

I might come back later if I think of some more.

the majority of what you write I would certainly agree with, the daftest thing is the convicted prisoners being allowed to claim compensation from all and sundry., Can I slightly amend your question,? eg. "To curry favour with the population"??I think it would be better if, it read "To curry favour with of the population."I think you will get the point my friend.

It is as though there is a 'fifth column' working from within to
push us all to the limits of going ga-ga....and confused.
Pantomimes cannot throw sweets into the audience lest it maims and kills.
