I just moved to the metro Detroit area from New York. I haven't had the time to find things to do. My boyfriend from NY is coming to visit in 2 weeks & I have no idea where to take him. We're into everything. Any suggestions?

Surprisingly, there is quite a bit to do in the Detroit area. While it's been years since I've been home for an extended visit (still have family in the area), here is a list of some of my favorite attractions in the area:

Henry Ford museum and Greenfield village.
Detroit Zoo
Detroit Science Center
Cranbrool Institute of Science

Another area that I just love is Frankenmuth. It's a quant little German town, lots of shopping and great restaurants. http://www.frankenmuth.org/

You can also check out this website about Detroit Tourism. There's a lot of great info here:
http://www.visitdetroit.com/

Another thing you can do is also request a tourism guide from the state that will list all sorts of tourism attractions in the entire state. It's a great guide to have.

I hope this helps. Have fun touring around Detroit! I miss it dearly and look forward to going home soon!

Well, you didn't say what part of metro Detroit you're in, or what part of NY your boyfriend is from. You could take him to the very downtown of Woodward Av & Michigan Av which will make him feel just like he's at Atlantic & Flatbush in Brooklyn. You could show him Cass Corridor, which is surprisingly similar to uptown Harlem. There's the old Fort Street area which isn't all that different from the Battery in NY. And for a back home feeling of being in the Bronx, just take him to Detroit's west side, maybe like Greenfield Av. And be sure to take him for a ride on the Mugger Mover, I mean People Mover, for an HO scale version of the subway.

And if he's from upstate NY, then take him to Troy or Sterling Heights, which has about the same connection to Detroit as Westchester does to Manhattan.
