You haven't explained this too well but it is something I would also like to know. My wireless router is downstairs and my laptop upstairs gets seven times the signal strength then my internet speed is so I know the signal is good however could I plug the Xbox 360 cable into the laptop phonejack while it is connected to the internet so it will flow:
Downstairs router > upstairs laptop > Xbox 360

Wireless DSL cable that comes
with the Xbox 360

PS: I marked your question as interesting so people will help
:D

Networking is the great thing about routers it gives you the opportunity to have a wireless network around your home.

Get a Wireless Networking adapter for the xbox 360 and open up a whole new world - then you can stream between your laptop and 360 - pictures/music of course you are signed into xbox live also.

i have a laptop too if you want to connect its easy.
1. on laptop click start then pull up all connections
2. it should show your internet connection, lan connection an others
3. connect your 360 and your computer using the internet cord the xbox came with
4. on the computer highlight the internet connection and the lan connetion, right click and select bridge connections
5. on the xbox test your connetcion if all is good it should connected to xbox live
6. If your NAT says moderate some games like Halo 3 may take longer to find people to play with (still get Halo 3 though)

problems:
1. your may not work on the laptop while on xbox live
2. if while testing the connection IP adress fails make sure you have a good connection to the computer you are using internet from
3. If your laptop is not touched for about 5-10 mins the screen will go black and it will go to sleep mode if your laptop goes to sleep mode you will be disconnected to xbox live
4. every time you turn on the xbox you will have to test your connection to play on xbox live

If you get xbox 360 pro you get free xbox gold for a month make sure to use it
