I live in a not so big city and the surrounding towns are not much bigger. I live in the "city limits" but it isn't a major city with all the big city nuances that some have. I am only 2 hrs away from the smokey mountains and 3 hrs away from the coast. If I need to get away from the city I just go any direction for an hour or 2 and boom, isolation. I like living within city limits because it is close to where I pay my bills, the grocery, the schools, and my job (I have a 6 minute commute lol). But if I need to get away it isn't too far to reconnect with nature and have a quiet moment. I was raised in a neighborhood that was not close to anything and I thought I would never miss it but I do, especially now that I have kids. It does make it easier to do rituals, being a Pagan, where no one can see or comment on what you are doing. But, for the most part, most of my neighbors aren't that nosey and are pretty quiet. I think I would like to live somewhere like where you live after the kids have grown up and moved out, but until then I think I will stay in my little city and contemplate on how to keep it's small town charm and help others learn about enviromental changes they can do to keep it looking natural for generations to come and keep it from looking to metropolitan. The town I live in was founded in 1864 but was a farming, stagecoach stop, then a Mill town since 1789. It was one of the first railroad stops when trains were introduced. It has a lot of hometown qualities still left in it.
