I'm with the buy it, it's yours club. If she was spending that much money on a rug, she should've darn well known what she was buying. Tell her a deals a deal and give her the names of some local rug cleaners. It won't cost her that much. Who knows, she might have got it home and just decided it didn't go with her house or maybe her ol' man had a fit she spent so much! lol

If it was a wool rug, of course it smells - probably like a sheep. Have a pro clean it first before selling. Maybe you can't smell it if you're used to the familiar odors in your house.

Most rugs that cost $500 that smell would have wool in them....She can have it dry cleaned for like 30 bucks.

All and I mean "ALL" private items are sold "AS IS". If you want to be nice, then take it back, but you do not have to. Suggest she lay it out in her driveway and give it a good cleaning. She can rent a carpet cleaner that will work great or buy her a bottle of Frebreze.

Give her back $50 to have it deodorized.

This is why you shouldn't buy used textiles and upholstered furniture.
