Both. I feel disgust that someone could be so evil and selfish that they could take so many others lives because of their own personal feelings.
I also almost feel pity that he was so lost. Anyone could have been him, really. But it is not an excuse for doing something so sick.

I will remember him as a young man that was not helped before he turned in to a monster. I think mental issues are becoming too much of an excuse.

This is to be remembered on many different levels. The biggest one is that as a society we have created some very disturbed individuals. Take the game grand auto theft where
you score points for killing raping stealing etc. That new "babysitter is feeding disturbances and solutions to those disturbances in the most of the worst resolutions.
On another level, I will never forget them, but I will always watch any one with a long coat or erratic behavior and prepare for the worst.
In Closing, my friend, These are the good ole days.

well clearly the society and the country time and time again keep on failing these people ,when will such things stop, how many times does something like this happen before the decision makers decide to act, theres a lot of issues involved such as health promotion and awareness , ie better health care in screening for people with mental issues and trying to find them, and then when found, appropriate treatment and monitoring
and of course then theres gun control and thats all been said and done

He was a young man with not mental issues, but real life problems. I will remember him how he went inside the mall with a rifle and starting shooting randomly at people. =P

Sad to say I believe that the incident will be recalled as the event period!
A guy shot up a Mall in Omaha.
Those living close to the area or acquainted with any of the victims will certainly have it burned into their memories/hearts but the rest of us liekely will be bare bones recollection of gunfire causing death in a random incident.

Well, unfortunately, what he did was monstrous, but a kid with some heavy mental issues. He will probably be remembered as alittle of both.
