I only wish I could go a day without hearing, "that's so gay". The other stuff I don't mind so much.

Maybe that straight male student wasn't that straight.
Yeah, I can go for a day without such a discussion. All I have to do is stay down in my "basement dungeon faux studio" working on my canes and stay off this board!
LOL!
I would think discussion would be much better than pretending it doesn't exist. Not until the very recent past has open discussion taken place.
Are you having a problem with the issue? I keep seeing your questions and rantings about homosexuality. What gives?

Sure, gay things are what's happening these days and people are in discussion more concerning that subject matter. We've had several movies with gay themes; one of which won the Golden Globe award. Gays have been on talk shows; and even the moderator of at least one. Gay people have become a factor is presidential politics as well.
But I'm all for this and, no, I never tire of it because I think that's what we need.
There are a lot of straight people who come into gay chatrooms and forums such as this one. True, there are many who come in just to stir up hate. But there are many as well, who come in out of curiousity because they want to find out what being gay is all about. Along the way they find out about the hate and discrimination that is a daily fact of life for gays. When they do it just may be possible that we are winning some people over to our way of thinking.

I know what you mean.
At my school, people will go as far as to say someone that's actually straight is gay, just to watch peoples' reactions, and be amused by it.
Through my school day today, there were seven conversations related to homosexuality that I can remember.
You know, just once, I'd like to hear, "Is ______ straight?" They have the nerve to shove their heads into the business of homosexuals; why don't we do the same for them? I can understand an occasional question of whether someone is gay -- if they really do want to know, as an honest question, I'm fine with it. But using "gay" as a synonym for "stupid," is pretty much gay, as they would put it.
I also find it interesting that it's usually STRAIGHT people that talk about gay people. And what's even more interesting to me, is the fact that when someone gay attempts to join the conversation, they don't allow him to. In one of the conversations I witnessed during study hall, two students were talking about whether all gay people are feminine. A gay student in the class heard them, and they sounded confused -- they have no clue in hell what they're talking about -- and the student lightly interrupted and tried to give them his viewpoint. They told him that the matter didn't involve him, and he should butt out. But as he told a friend of mine later, by all means, he feels that they're talking ABOUT him, in a way, and he feels that he has a right to correct the things they're misunderstanding.
Hrm. Maybe we should just undertake the assumption that they're simply jealous, kind of like when people talk about celebrities.. :]

I get sick of it - and I'm gay.
I'm in the R&S section all the time, and "Christians" are obviously fixated on the topic, like morbidly obsessed with it. And of course, they're the ones saying it's a "choice," which implies that they must have gay impulses they've "chosen" not to act on. (Except then we hear about guys like Ted Haggard...)
Personally, I'd just as soon be who I am, you be who you are, and let's get on with life. I don't think gay people are usually the ones to spark the "debate" about gay people, ironically enough. ("Debate." That just makes me laugh. What's the debate? Yeah, we exist, and no, it's not just a "choice," and even if it was, who cares? Why is it anybody else's business what I do?)

It may be difficult to believe, but before wandering into Yahoo!Answers, I went for days without hearing the word "gay".
And you'd be amazed at how few complete strangers would quiz me as to whether or not I thought they were gay/straight/bi/tri/trans...or anything else.
But now, in here, I've become so accustomed to the question that I rarely bang my head against the edge of my monitor, anymore...

a lot of people come to the lgbt section to talk about how much they hate gay people (such as gayhater or gaykilla). these people shouldnt waste their time hating us, because it really isnt worth it to be so mean in the long run. and also, i wish that everyone werent so "thats so gay" "ew, gay" and "god made adam and eve, not adam and steve" ect.
(why not answer a question where you wont get a dozen thumbs downs?!?!?!)

Actually, it was a refreshing change. All week we've been talking about homosexuality in my Sociology class, and I learned that some people aren't as dumb as they appear. There were a lot of good points brought up.

I wish I could come to yahoo answers and not see "is my boyfriend gay," "am I gay," "how do I know if I'm gay," and any other related topics.
