Granted that it pushed the USA into war with Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan despite the isolationist opposition in those days. And don't forget the Japanese were defeated after we firebombed and atomic bombed them and killed a large number of their civilian population. And we criticize the Nazis? I have nothing against the Japanese people. Case closed, tragically. Feedback, please.

Angry? Don't you feel that we have a right to be angry over an unprovoked attack on innocent people? While we undoubtedly killed many Japanese citizens with our bombs, how many people do you think Hitler killed in his ovens? Consider this: Had Germany won the war, with the help of Japan let's not forget, today we would be speaking either German and/or Japanese. Would this make you a happy camper?

Today is Pearl Harbor Day and you should be down on your hands and knees thanking the veterans who fought and won WWII--and to those kids today who are fighting terrorism and dying so that you can live FREE.

We are no doubt a little sensitive still. But those of us with half a brain are also sensitive that we are the only country to use a nuclear weapon on a population.

We were cutting off their oil and wow, we just happened to park our old fleet in Pearl Harbor. What a coincidence, huh? We were going to stay out of WW2, but knew that we could not let the axis win. It kicked us into a manufacturing gear the likes of which the world had probably never seen.

But if we hadn't used those nukes, the casualties would most likely have been far higher in the end.

It seems to me that many if not most Americans have a lot of respect for Japanese people in modern times.

We shouldn't be. In 1941, the US was the Saudi Arabia of the world with the most oil output. We cut off Japan's oil b/c of them expanding OVER there. And they bombed us. We supposedly knew about it before hand. I always find it strange that Japan attacks us and then we declare war on Germany.

Anyhow, we know what would happen if Saudi Arabia cut off our oil supply. We would invade them or bomb them into submission too. And you know it.

So how can we blame a country for doing to us 66 years ago, something we would possibly do to another country if sufficiently cut off of oil?

Yes, we are still angry. It was an unprovoked attack. We used the atomic bomb on Japan because they would not give up and not let up. It was the only way to win the war. I don't really think they realized beforehand just how much devastation it would cause. In war, you do what you have to do to come out on top. Would you rather be under Hitler and his philosophy right now? If we hadn't ended the war, they would have taken over our country and we would all be saying, Heil Hitler.

The surprise attack on Pearl Harbor by the japanese was underhand and violated the protocol on war. They actually attacked Pearl Harbor 5 minutes before they officially declared war which has shamed them ever since.

Angry yes
At the Japanese yes for being inhuman
At the US yes
The US had advance warning of the attack yet did not prepare
The US had even more advance warning from the 9-11 tragedy yet they did not learn anything from 65 years ago.

Man is stupid.

Anytime someone is sneaky or dishonest, and people are hurt by it can cause anger. It was way before my time, but I can relate. Do I look at a Japanese person and have anger toward them? Of course not.
