Well ...things are changing now, Mexican women now are getting educated and are joining the work force. So they are busy with work outside and doing housework. Only a few from certain economic level ...mainly blue collar people, uneducated ...they have nothing to do but have sex. And in the Mexican culture which is mainly Roman Catholic they are forbidden to use contraceptive or any birth control method except abstinence... And then since the mexican are ruled by a socalled "Macho" culture ...the man in the house want to show the whole town that he is a real "macho" who could father all these kids. (They don't think about the implication of having too many kids like feeding them, educating them, providing them with health care etc.).
Fortunately now ...most mexican and latinos are getting educated and are exposed to other cultures ...and have better reasoning and are learning to only have the number of children they can afford to raise. And they are realizing that by having a small number of children, they can give them a better education and a better quality of life.

I find it odd that you are Mexicana and don't know this!!! Anyway, I will educate you....most Mexicans are Catholic so they don't believe in birth control. Therefore, having a big family is part of the culture. Ex. My husband is one of 12 but I am one of 4. Not all of them live off of public aid...many do work or at least their husband does!

not all Mexican women are like that. I'm 1/2 Mexican and i don't have any kids because i decided to pursue an education. I know many Mexican women with 2 or 3 kids at the most and they don't receive public aid. Do you even know any Mexican people besides your mom?
ADDITIONAL DETAIL: I'm not Roman Catholic

Perhaps it's a cultural thing. In some cultures (like mine) having a large family means having lots of happiness. This tends to be found in an agricultural society. I'm generalizing of course.

Ever been to Walmart? Lots of big women in there - Black, White, Latino, and Asian - with at least 5 bebe-kids each. Stay in any Walmart for more than 20 minutes and all the kids start to look alike after a while. Little bad@ss muthaf*cka's just running wild through the store whuppin' up on everybody. And the big fat mamas wandering through the store in some combination of slippers, do-rags, and visible bra-straps, uselessly fussing at all their little bad@ss kids. When you stop and think about it, Walmart really is the true American melting pot.

I know it doesn't answer your question but...here are some stats for you:
Number of abortions per year: 1.37 Million (1996)
Number of abortions per day: Approximately 3,700
While white women obtain 60% of all abortions,
Black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion,
and Hispanic women are roughly 2 times as likely.
Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.;
Catholic women account for 31.3%,
Jewish women account for 1.3%,
and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions.
18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as "Born-again/Evangelical".
As for my own personal opinion I believe if a woman wants to use birth control it is up to her....Rather she's a Catholic or not..there are Catholics and than than are Roman Catholics and I don't think that in this day in age there are too many Roman Catholics. I seriously dought that there are to many people who actually follow there faith to a T....(me included)
As for why the "Mexican Woman" you know are having children they can't afford....Maybe you should ask them.
As for the "Mexican Woman" I know who have more than 2 children...its because they want big families...but they take care of there children without assistance they have family help out. work 2 jobs....

I think is mainly because of their fanatical Christian upbringing that makes planned parenthood to look and feel like a sin. Sadly is the opposite, a bigger sin is to bring into this world a child that we cannot afford, especially because it's that child the one that will suffer the consequences of our ignorance.

Every child they drop on US soil is an automatic citizen and entitled to all the rights and privileges of a US citizen. If a woman entered illegally, I don't see how her offspring can be legal. This is a law that needs to be changed.
