San Pedro is pretty ghetto and there is not much to do for a tourist there. You can check out Downtown Long Beach nearby or drive around the Palos Verdes Penninsula and check out some beach cities like Redondo and Hermosa Beaches. Or drive up to Santa Monica and spend the day there.

Go the the San Pedro Pier (end of 110 freeway) for truly great food; especially, fish. It is also great for shopping all year round.

You can board a BART train in San Pedro to go across the Bay into San Francisco and spend the day there
