I'm not offended at all, but it's come to my attention that I should. What are your opinions?

Definitely! I love rappers such as 50 Cent, Chingy, etc, but like my mom pointed out the other day, listen carefully to the words! They are totally degrading to women! I think rappers like Kanye West understands, because he doesn't sing like that and he realizes how rude that is to women. I'm not saying they should stop writing and that i don't like their music, but can they not find something better to write about then boobs and what they did at the strip joint last night?

LMAO Evil!!! Lady, grow up. Not ALL Hip Hop is bad or "misogynistic"as you put it. If more people like yourself, would just take a little time to do your RESEARCH on the Hip Hop culture and Rap music, than you would discover that there ARE lots of meaningful, conscious, positive and uplifting Hip Hop Artists out there. Instead, your goofy self probably listens to the "radio" or may have watched a 50 cent video and therefore chose to generalize a whole genre and judge the fans, based on that alone. You have NO right to do that. This is why you are getting such a backlash from some of the regulars in this section. Because you DO NOT know what you're talking about. Too often people come to this section and really have no clue what they're saying. You've embarrassed yourself enough for today. Please go away.

I used to listen to rap until I really started listening to the words of SOME artist (not all). I think that we should be offended, it's time we stop condoning the messages in some of these songs, not only sexist lyrics but those that promote drugs and violence too. I'm really disgusting to see the "video girls" also. I wonder if they know the words to the songs they are jiggling to.

Well, it really depends on which women you talk to. You may talk to Sammie, and she may say that she could care less. But then you may talk to Maybeline, and she may say that she is verily offended. Me personally, I don't think it offends me. But they should really stop giving women those names. That is inappropriate. And the kids who they are supposedly supposed to be setting examples for are going around, getting in trouble, calling women and girls those names. And then, when they say it in the wrong place, (school, public) it sort of reflects on you saying what kind of parent you are, whether you've had something to do with it, or not. I think that they should stop it. It isn't fair to the kids, the example they set for the kids, and the women, young women, older women, middle aged women in the world, and who participate. And some women out there, these names such as "ho," "*****," they really apply to them. But they shouldn't be calling the women population that in such a way, that it may seem that they apply to the entire women culture. It's ridiculous if you actually think about it!

It depends on the song. 2 Short is an artist that has made songs that I find very offensive to women. One time at a party my sorority was hosting the DJ started playing a 2-Short song that was so offensive I made him turn it off and play something else.

i think those who might get flash back of mis treatment get offended
but then again thats hard to say we dont want our young gentalmen thinking it's kool to disrespect the laidies.
but it's not just hip hop it in all music, book, i could go on
but it works both ways women also make song about men and some men do get offended and some dont
what you gonna do.

I'm a hip hop fan and a man, and i think women should be to an extent, i never could understand how a woman can sit there and listen and like a song that refers to them as bitches, hoes, and etc.
That's my opinion
