...does it all blend together, or can you easily hear one instrument from the rest? i mean i know its supposed to blend together and sound good...
but sometimes when i'm bored, i try just listening to the guitar or the drums, and not the rest. or like when i'm trying to learn how to play it. does anyone else ever do this?

i do that...i usually focus on the drums, (especially when it's an avenged sevenfold song the rev rocks!) occasionally the guitar.

What i do is try to listen to some of the lyrics when its started to be droned out by the instruments. So then I'll be able to get the words right and when i don't know the title, i can write down the lyrics to look it up.
it blends for me but its pretty tough to here it that way for me. I play like 4 instruments so it stands out to me. Like I play:
viola, drums, sax, bassoon, any type of percussion... etc.
So drums stand out a lot to me. Any type of drum sound:
synthisizer even...
But I prefer it when its blended. And I try to pick them out when i'm bored sometimes too.

I do that all the time, trying to figure out piano parts. If I focus on a certain instrument I can hear it much more clearly than if I was just listening to the music.

I do both. When I'm just listening, I listen to the whole. But if I'm trying to figure out the piano part or something, I might be able to listen to just one instrument at a time.

I love to do that. Especially with classical music. Like, I'll search for the flutes, the bassoons, Xylophones, Trumpets....stuff like that.

Heck yes, especially with MCR songs, it's cool to hear the other people in the band besides the lead singer (no matter how cool he is...:)
