1in 4 in Britain work for Government.

Does it make you think they could make a better job of things, with that many people doing something?

As they are very expensive to employ.

Here in Canada, every time I try to call a Government office I get a recorded message with all the information I need right at my finger tips.
So if we have too many, they are all in the recording booths instead of helping people, I'm sure.

Footnote:

Every time I am later than LC, I swear he says the same thing I was going to say.
I don't even think we like each other enough to think alike.
Maybe I really did leave my heart in SF.
I mean that is the last thing I told Stooge, It just popped into my head when I saw his question about heart and mind.

There are too many government employees. Too few of them are workers. Inflated administrative costs are a problem in private industry as well.

It takes a big team to support a CEO in style, or to have enough people under supervision to qualify for a higher Government Service pay scale. So, both types of bosses featherbed--it's not like it's their money. And when cutbacks need to be made, they lay off the people who are actually doing the job.

sure. government workers are vastly over-paid, the final public of them are already unionized, and function Cadillac benefit applications. All on the tax-payer's price. Public sector unions at the two the state and federal stages are a great area of why states like California, Illinois, and Ohio are thinking submitting financial disaster. The contracts negotiated by making use of those unions are no longer sustainable. they're loaded with huge benefit applications and retirement plans that rigidity city's and states to maintain raising taxes to attempt to maintain up with it is grants. Public sector unions are the reason in the back of the lower back-lash you're seeing now in diverse states. The monsterous unions are taking to plenty, and the elected officers are doing precisely what they pronounced they might do in the main recent elections and tackling the stressful subject concerns. considering the fact that union organizers are predominately democrats, and use union dues to help thier democratic applicants, what you have is in result an infinite money laundering scheme. The citzens paying thier taxes that fund the unions are those getting the shaft.

I can't speak of British Parliament but as for Canadian Parliament: I think we have too many Chiefs and not enough Indians. Too many people sit back on their fat 4$$3$ doing $|-|17 all saying "oh ya, we'll do it...uh...next year". They say that EVERY YEAR! Imagine if a country could just reset itself; just say "ok, we're doing this over again, but this time we'll do it right"; if only.

Yes, there are to many government workers. Especially that one they call a Prime Minister in Nop. 10. He ought to be the first to be given the sack.

Well my ex-husband worked for the Office of National Statistics and got paid £50,000 p/a for setting up "Team Building" days when the staff went on jollies to expensive Country Clubs and did "Team Building Exercises" like building bridges out of dry spaghetti and marshmallows. All catered and expenses paid.

And telling the Government things like "Unemployment and poverty are closely related". Well duh.

Thats what your taxes are going to pay for, peeps!

We need lots of government workers, considering each one does as little work as possible...the more the merrier. Of course, the money could be put to better use...if some gov't workers would WORK, lol!!!
