to say a function is an inverse of another is to imply that if y=x then x=y

or in a more complex equation: y = x^2 +x , therefore x= y^2 +y

You are basically inflecting the graph about the axis y=x in other words.

So, if the relationship between x and y is an inverse relationship....it basically means that they go in opposite directions. So if y increases x will decrease.

The fact that they are inversely proportional states that y = k/x or xy = k where k is a constant if x increases by 10%, then x becomes 1.1x (1.1x)(b) = k --> b = 0.91(k/x) thus y decreases by 100% - 91% = 9%
