Do it the next 3 or 4 weeks. Better early than late.

Have you ever heard of nesting? I swear I experienced this. I don't know how many times I would pack and unpack the overnight bag. It was getting pretty bad.
For the more normal mother, lol, I suggest packing it two weeks ahead. As the date got closer, I would find things I needed in there, and things I didn't. If you know for a fact what you need, I don't see a harm in packing it already. Good Luck!

I am 26 weeks pregnant and I have my bag packed since I reached the end of my first tri mester. Better safe then sorry you never know what can happen and you don't want to worry about the things you forgot because you did not pack in enough time.

well my best friend (whos preg with her 2nd) started packing hers at 30weeks or so! She likes to be prepared and she was nesting big time!! (i didn't do mine till 36-37wks)
She had bought 2 pairs of new pyjamas for hospital and a new toothbrush, shampoo & cond, maternity pads etc....and packed them into the bag already. As well as clothes for the baby since she already had that too. she still has to put in other toiletries and clothes but won't do that till closer to the time because its just not practical.
There's no set time but its usually wise to have most of your stuff packed by 36-37 weeks in case bubs comes early and your off in a mad dash to the hospital!
However, I maintain that unless you buy all new stuff to take with you, you can't pack everything beforehand because you still need your toothbrush, clothes, undies etc....
I would say start packing what you can and possibly buy new things if you want to but leave a checklist with the bag of the things that still need to go in so if you can't do it someone else will know what to put in (like hubby).
Also remember that you don't just go into labour and then have to race to the hospital like in the movies! For the most part you'll be spending the first few/several hours at home and thats plenty of time to pack the last of the stuff you need in between contractions, or hubby can look at the list and do it for you. It really only takes a few minutes! You don't need to pack the whole house and hubby can always bring back the things you forgot or didn't have time for!
Don't forget to pack things like snacks for your birth partner and a change of clothes, swimmers if you intend on being in the bath or shower so he doesn't have to stay all wet! I packed board shorts for my hubby and they camein handy!
Best of luck and congrats!!

Whenever theirs no set time on when you should pack I always pack early just to make sure I got everything. And if I would add stuff to it as the weeks go by. Now that I'm pregnant with # 2 I get to do it all again.

you can start now..it's better to be prepared. For my first baby, I didn't pack my overnight bag early and I had my baby 3 weeks early and my husband didn't even know what to bring to the hospital for me...so I suggest packing early and being prepared. Good Luck To you!!

I packed mine at 5 months. Better to be prepared. Just make sure you double check what you have packed around 38-39 weeks and make sure the clothes you packed to go home in still fit! Ha, I learned that one the hard way. I had to go home in the maternity clothes I wore to the hospital.

Honestly... we really didn't find the bag too useful. Most places will not let your spouse stay in your room overnight... and they have toothbrushes and other things for basic hygiene needs. So, I recommend that you send your hubby home to get the things you really want after you deliver the baby. That way you don't have to bring everything with you when you first get there.
