Try jumpstarting. If that doesn't work, read on...
If the car is a manual, does it start with a pushstart?
have you tried hitting the top of the starter solenoid with a hammer and long bar? This will loosen the carbon on the solenoid contacts.
Does it make any noise? Often all you'll hear on a dead starter is just one click.

It can show different signs, anything from a clicking sound (weak selenoid) to slow starting when the engine is hot (warped shaft).
It is difficult sometimes to decipher what is battery and what is starter sometimes.
If you are having problems, get your battery and charging system tested first, then move on to the starter.

When you try and start your car, you will niot hear anything. If, you hear clicking, it is usually due to a dead battery. No sound means dead starter. Hope this helps-Matt
