I experienced it with my first and now with my third pregnancy and although it can be entirely normal it is possible that it means something isn't quite right.
Usually if its light cramping (not requiring pain medication like paracetamol) that comes and goes and is not accompanied by bleeding its fine. Its usually caused by your uterus stretching/growing and the ligaments around it also stretching that causes the cramping.

If it is a constant bad pain that doesn't go away or gets worse then it is worth seeing your doctor to rule out anything bad. Things like ectopic pregnancy or threathened miscarriage can always be possibilities.

I am 9 weeks now and still get it but its usually worse after I have been on my feet and active for a while. My doctor wasn't too concerned about it and told me exactly what I wrote above. I had a scan at 7weeks which showed a baby with a strong heartbeat and not ectopic so she's not very worried.

I find that lying on my side with a pillow tucked up under my belly and inbetween my knees helps to take the pressure of the pelvic joints and alleviate the cramps.

Best of luck and I hope that helps ease your mind!!

Those cramps are usually your ligaments and joints stretching to prepare for your growing belly, which is also why women's feet grow during pregnancy. If you are really concerned though, call your doctor.
