I personally do not know any current NFL player but I did play touch football against Bob Hayes when we were both young men growing up in Jacksonville, Florida. We would have gone to the same high school if not for segregation, although he is younger than I.
I have held in my hands an Olympic Gold Medal (not Hayes') and had the privilege of seeing, up close and personally, Coach Spurrier's Heisman Trophy. Both were dramatically impressive and I feel honored to have done so. I also talked on the phone with Henry Aaron (before he bacame Hammerin' Hank) when I was a young boy and I still proudly display the 715 certificate denoting my presence in Atlanta Stadium on that cold April night in 1974.

Tony Corrente was my high school(La Mirada High) us history teacher. pretty hard class but he was chill as hell. I did my final on Mary Jane by Janis Joplin lol. Got a "A" i think. Also one of my friends from high school and played football with plays for UCLA. He has started at O-line since his true freshmen year! Kinda funny im a huge USC fan!

Met the 1998, 99, 00 Steelers, the Rooneys used to bring the players, and their families, to the hotel where I worked, for a family week.

I know Jake Plummer. We used to party in high school. He's about to donate a lot of $ to my brother in law to build a public aquarium in Boise, ID.
Wife's cousin is Jeremy Newberry. Plays center for Oakland now....played for SF prior to that. I've never met him though.

I went to college and interviewed (journalism major) Jason Hill of the 'Niners...Had classes with a couple of other Cougs who are now in the league...No stars though, not yet anyway.
I hang out in front of Matt Hasselbecks house all the time though. Hoping one day he invites me in.

Bill Romanowski went to the high school in the town next to mine. I dont personally know him, but have met him. He went on to BC after Rockville, CT high.
