My co-worker and I were just looking at the calendar and realized there was a "Day After New Year's Day" on the 2nd (duh) in New Zealand. What the heck is it? I've found it listed all over the place, but no definition! I haven't seen any listings that indicate they celebrate New Year's Eve, so is it their version of the American "New Year's Eve" and "New Year's Day"?

First dreaded workday of the year. In the US, its National Hangover day.

New Zealand uses the same calendar as most of the English speaking countries so their New Year's is the same as in the US. They just have called the day after New Year's day a public holiday. Much like the Friday after Thanksgiving.
