Survival knife including a sharpening stone (standard USAF survival knife will suffice).
Over sized hatchet (single bit) with fiberglass or resin handle.
Signal mirror at least 4 inches in diameter.
With the above listed items, you can make any thing else you might need for survival such as:
fishing pole or spears
fishing line (made from bark or palm boughs)
fishing hooks (can be fashioned out of seashells or bone)
shelter (again formed by boughs from palms)
water (can be purified by fire started by mirror)
cooking items (fashioned from trees or coconut shells)
The one thing you can't take with you is your common sense (you better already have that).

I used to like to play a game called twenty questions or things I'd like to know about you, game and this was one of the questions.
If you're not going to supply me with the essentials of life needed to bodily survive such as food, water, shelter, then those are what I would pick.
However if those are a given and it's the little extras that make life more comfortable, then I'd pick an abundant supply of books, a solar powered radio, and soap.
If you're giving even more leeway then I'd pick, a deck of cards, a dog, and a shovel.
You didn't say what you'd pick for your three things.....

A rifle with Ammo. Fishing line. A knife. Ill figure the rest out.. unless one of the three things can be a radio to call for help.
