Where do you guys think the word "Crush" came from?...."I have a (Crush) on Cameron Diaz"

i think it was not a word in a dictionary until like 10 yrs ago.
As the world is modern, people have started to create their own kind of language, like,
hey homey!
sup?
wat up?
and crush came from english language too.For instance, the real word "crush" means to hit something or to be crushed into something.
So,the word"crush" is a recent modern self created word

It comes from the French word "cruissir", meaning to gnash teeth or crack; something one often does when infatuated.

i think its cuz they usually don't end well and then the two people are "crushed"...
