Tap water is safe and healthy, don't waste your money on bottled water.

The FDA and EPA have very strict regulations for the quality and purity of both tap water and bottled water. However, bottled water companies may not be legally required to test their water as often or a rigorously as the municipal water supply does.

It is an open secret that many bottled waters are in fact, plain tap water.

I think I can safely say, that most reliable, well controlled scientific studies on the subject have shown *no real health benefits* to drinking bottled water, as opposed to plain tap water. Even in simple double-blind *taste* tests, few people can tell any difference.

"Health waters" will almost always carry the tell-tale disclaimer: "These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA; this product is not intended to treat, cure, or prevent any condition or disease." This basically means that any health claims that are made by the bottling company are a fraud.

In other words, water is just water.

The only difference is in your wallet. (Hint: the reason companies work so hard to sell and advertise water, is that it's dirt cheap; they can often realize better than a 90% profit margin!)

My biggest problem with bottled water is the *garbage* it creates. Empty plastic water bottles account for millions of pounds of trash and litter every year, only a tiny fraction of them are ever recycled. Some of them end up in landfills, others as litter or refuse polluting roadsides, trails, in streams, lakes and oceans, in the middle of fields, or forests, etc. Most take hundreds or thousands of years to break down; and in general, it costs far more than they are worth to hire someone to pick them up.

I think I heard somewhere, that on average, a resident of the US cannot walk 150 yards outdoors without coming across an empty plastic bottle, plastic bag, or aluminum can lying on the ground.

As for drinking water from "mountain streams" I would advise against it! Don't do it unless you have no other choice.....

In the US, drinking tap water and bottled water are very safe, because the FDA requires them to repeatedly *filter* and *treat* drinking water to remove diseases and contaminants. The same can't be said of most rivers and lakes. Drinking untreated, unfiltered water out of wild lakes or streams is a good way to get sick. Needless to say, there is a long list of bacteria, parasites, and viruses that can live in untreated water.

I don't know about your area, but where I live, most streams have of good chance of giving you "Giardia."

I have been reserching the side effects of drinking from plastic water bottles and... It casues cancer, down syndrom and has very very dangerous chemicals. Also, I think that you should not drink from Acqufina and other brand water bottles because the have only been cleaned 4 times with not so good filters.

In conclusion all you can do is drink from your tap and get a nalgine bottle to put the water in it.

Oh yeah, a way to tell if the watter bottles is good then check the bottem of a water bottle look at the # in the triangle with three arrows if it is more than 5 its good but wash it before you use it

Unless you live in the slums, tap water will be completely fine for you! People have been drinking it for years and years and we all turned out normal (well, that's debatable, being that there seemed to have been an surplus of ******* and whiny people in the past 10 years and it's only getting worse look at the controversy over a fictional story, "Golden Compass." need I say more?)

I filter my water through one of those pitcher things. it's cheaper in the long run then buying bottle water, esspecially fiji water (most expensive water on the planet?) Most tap water is fine for the average joe to drink

I even have struggled with this additionally. I drink Mountain Valley Spring Water. that's amazingly organic. Aquafina is in actuality opposite osmosis filtered water. there is not something incorrect with it. that's organic additionally however the PH is particularly acidic so as that's not reliable. you're able to purchase a opposite osmosis filter out on your place and upload a mineral cartridge to advance the PH. interior the long-term, this can be the main inexpensive answer. Fiji has strains of Arsenic in it, ie. rat poison. Plus, they have had many micro organism themes interior the previous. Poland Spring has an acidic PH which isn't reliable for you the two.

You "don't know" (not "dont no") what type of water to drink. Also:
It is "nowadays", not "now days".
It is natural "spring" water from up there, not "tap" water.
It is "minerals", not "minerils".
It is "fluoride", not "flooride".
It IS driving you crazy, not HAS driving you crazy.
You have a daughter, not a doughter (unless you have the Pilsbury dough girl)

There's only one water source that's checked daily. Samples sent to state for analasis. One source that's approved by the state as safe. It's tap water. I know, I've been in the business for 30 years.
