i would advise to fit the proper oil filter to maintain correct oil pressure which is most crucial in modern bikes and the correct oil dont buy cheap parts its not worth it

yes . each manufacturer has their own spec, Each model can have it's own spec. Physically you cannot usually put the wrong filter in, but there are some bum after market filters that might fit but will basically wreck your engine. So stick with what the makers recommend, and don;t forget to change the filter occasionally. A.

They are specific to each bike but a number of bikes take the same filter [the filter on my 1200 yam is the same as on my wifes 600 yam]
I would advise you not to buy cheap replacement filters as this is one item that only genuin parts should be used.

I've used a strap wrench, tongs (strap wrench with a bicycle chain instead of a strap), big channel locks, a special filter wrench from Kuryakyn,

They are different. Unless your bike is modified, I understand that often the best is the OEM. As it's tested for that bike and keeps the oil flow at the correct pressure.
