Do you really?
Do you NOT buy the nice expensive clothes, do you not have a GREAT quality TV, good computer, nice steak dinners, change in your pocket. If you do, it means you would RATHER spend your money on that, than the starving children in the world. We as a society don't care about poverty. The wealthy important upper class people couldn't care less. Religion too, The Christian church body ( all churches combined) would raise up an estimated over 80 billion dollars a year, NOBODY try to say that disappears into the clergy's wages, or all goes to fights poverty, that could set up thousands of big projects in Africa and help a LOT more. Effectively it could start ending poverty.
We don't seem to care.
Human nature.

Absolutely correct my friend. We don't care!
Be prepared to get some ignorant people not able to admit it and they'll say stupid things like "I do". You're right it is human nature. People suck.

Actually I DO Care. Im Sorry But Im not About To Say That Im A Heartless Human Being Who Couldnt Care Less About Poor Starving Children Around The Golbe. Thats Just Not Me. However, Im Not In A Possition To Domuch About it, I Can Only Do So Littte. Its The Rich People Who Should Do More In Third World Countries And Bee MoreCharitable. World Leaders Need To Take A Stance And Put Their Money Where Theyre Mouth Is When It Comes To Poverty And Dying People. The Fact Is EVERYBODY Could Do More, The Questions Is.. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? And About The Human Nature Thing, Its Human Nature To CARE About Those In Need And Feel COMPASSION. Its not In My Nature To Not Care When Other Members O fThe Human Race Are Dying. If Everybody In the World Pulled Their Weight(All Those In Rich Countries) We Could Actually MAKE A DIFFERENCE. But Not Everybody Is Willing To Do IT.

Sorry, but I do care, and with my limited income, I still donate to charities like St. Jude's Hospital. I do not have a computer nor do I have an expensive cell phone. I have a simple tract phone for emergencies. My wardrobe is very, very limited and it's a good think I wear scrubs all day at work. My TV is 10 years old, my VCR 18 and my DVD 8. I don't have an IPOD or any of those fancy things. I live pay check to pay check and pay my bills on time. The last time I went out to eat was months ago and then to the Country Buffet for $8.00. I think I've gone to the show, let's see, oh yes, The Titanic. I don't do much on week-ends because of the gas prices.
I do care but I choose to take care of the people right here in the US of A. We have plenty of people here that need help. We also are not the only country in the world. Why do we always have to be the ones to "help out"? Especialy Africa. Missionaries go there and try to help out and get murdered by rebels. People send money and other aid that never reach the people in need because it's stoeln by the rebels or the government. Seems to me they are the ones that don't care about their own people.
You should not lump all people together in the "not caring" category. There are lots of rich companies that do things for other people. Maybe they feel, like I do, that we should take care of our own first. I'm all for helping out in cases of disasters.
I'm not saying this to be mean, but the blacks in this country are so very proud of their African heritage, how many of them contribute to charities that help the African people? Are there groups out there? I don't know.

I beg to differ. Many people care, just not for the "right" reasons they claim. Altruism is not a part of any animal's nature, this is true, yet plenty of people do donate to charities and do pro-bono work. Why? Because it makes us feel good. And I include myself in this. We live in such a selfish society that the smallest gestures make us feel like superheros. No animal will ever take any action that doesn't bring it at least a small amount of pleasure.

I do care about the starving childern in Africa but I really care more about the clean water situation in other countries. Alot of people in other countries like in Africa don't have clean water to drink and they get sick and die. I was at a missions school this past summer and they showed us how important it was that people have clean water in other countries.
I want to go out and go help people have clean water. I want to join an organization some day that will go out and give people clean water.

i do care but i care more about the children here in our own country. like on the many homes on indian reservations, many of which do not have electricity, or even a stove to heat with, i save money up each year and buy a wood burning stove for a family on one of the many reservations. and i live paycheck to paycheck i am by no way wealthy.

People don't really care. We try to worry about are own needs to survive. There are many homeless children in this world. There is just not much that we can do but help ourselves. But I personally care, because I can already imagine the pain they are going through. But I don't donate, because I have my own life, and family to worry about now.

Well, of course I don't ACTUALLY care, and neither does anyone else with the privilege of being on this website. I mean, a small donation, sure, but self-sacrifice, no.

I care, but there's not much I can do. Besides, caring alone doesn't feed them. Good luck. 2D
