My wife used to put a small pillow under her back. And count baby booties. I know when you are getting near the end of your third trimester it will get more uncomfortable, but if you have to, sleep in a recliner.

I COMPLETELY FEEL YOUR PAIN!
I'm 36 weeks and have been going through the same thing since about 27 weeks... and with my first pregnancy it was the same way too.
What I do is make sure to drink less before bedtime (although you will still have to get up to go pee you won't as many times so you'll sleep sounder) and also, put a pillow between your legs all the way up to the top of your inner thighs and another pillow a little underneath your rib cage / chest to elevate your tummy off the bed a little bit.
Might try a humidifier if you're having trouble breathing also.
Oh, and another thing, have a fan running very lightly, not on you, but rotating and buy a single flat satin sheet (you can get the polyester satin for cheap at places like Ross if you live near one of those) and put it between you and the heavier blanket. It sooths for some reason.
It's mainly about positioning pillows just right, though... once you've mastered that, you're as good as you're gonna get!
(I like to say this is baby's way of getting us ready for sleepless nights of feedings when baby comes.)
Good luck, congrats... and just know, I know what you're going through!

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I couldn't sleep after about 27weeks. I was reccomended to try relatxation techniques. I started a routine just before bed of having a warm candle lit bath with lavender(it helps everyone sleep), followed by a massage. Worked everytime. Only problem is that i still need this routine to sleep.

I recommend taking a hot bath or reading or doing something relaxing the last hour leading up to bed. Don't eat or exercise or lay in your bed unless you are ready to go to sleep. Hate to say this too but if you just cannot get comfortable ask your husband/sig. other to sleep in another bed so you can have as much space as you need.

I'm 3o weeks as of today to and i have trouble sleeping too. i don't know why the best thing to do is not to force yourself to sleep read a book and drink some hot chocolate that should relax your body to where you will come to a point that you are sleepy and that should help.

I actually suffered from insomnia for most pregnancy. I used lavender bath salts and oils. Take a warm bath with either of these and it will help you to relax. That is what I did and it worked great.
Congrats on your baby

Sorry Sweetie, the only thing that will help is getting that baby outta there in 10 weeks! Sometimes, I would take Benadryl to sleep which my doctor said was okay, but I didn't like to do that often.

my doctor told me for the days that I absolutely could not sleep I could use Tylenol PM. I was very funny about stuff I took while pregnant, even Tylenol, so I never tried it.
But I wouldnt do it often.
