Well, given a preference, I've always enjoyed Dallas more than Houston, although I can't really complain about Houston. I've lived in San Antonio, and it's nothing like either Dallas or Houston. Well, maybe just a little closer like Houston.

And, then, I'm also not Vietnamese. While I've seen Vietnamese culture around Dallas, it's not prevalent. I think you might want to check out more of Houston to see what they have.

Couldn't tell you a thing about Austin as the city has just never appealed to me and I"ve spent little time there.

Dallas. I grew up and now live in AR (which I love and am very proud to be a redneck lol) and lived in Dallas for 3 years 90-93. If your single it's great. You can make good money. I was an exec assistant and made 35,000 in 1993. They have great apt's with lots of amenitIEs. Excellent shopping ie malls, outlets, small one of a kind shoppes in Highland Park, Art Fairs, Downtown Market, etc. You can't beat the restaurants. I recommend Ruth's Chris but be prepared to spend about 40 bucks a person at least. The only thing I don't miss is the traffic and always trying to "keep up with the Jones'" Dallas is full of big hair and big money! LOL By the way I used to travel to Louisville and I thought it was beautiful. I don't think I ever had anyone be rude to me either. Also I live 40 min from Memphis and hate it. I feel like I need to bring a fullyautomatic machine gun to feel safe there! Have a good one!

I agree that Vietnamese is the best Asian cuisine there is!
Houston does have a large Vietnamese population. I'm not from there, but my Vietnamese friends in Dallas said it's larger than Dallas'.
Dallas has a smaller Vietnamese population, but it is more spread out. Garland/Richardson has the largest concentration, followed by Farmers Branch/Carrollton and Arlington. All of those locations have shopping centers that have predominately Vietnamese businesses.
I live in the LA area now and Westminster, CA has the largest Vietnamese population outside of Saigon. Or at least that is what their tourist information says.

There is a very large Vietnamese buddhist temple in Garland (Dallas suburb) and many other Vietnamese places of worship in the area. If a group of people have taken the time to build those churches, then many of them will live in the area. Jupiter and Walnut, Buckingham and Shiloh, Walnut and Audelia all have Vietnamese shopping centers--restaurants, jewelers, markets, insurance, hair salons(all intersections are in a 5 mile radius).
I don't know much about the quality of the schools in the area though. It's pretty safe, just stay closer to the jupiter buckingham side rather than the Audelia side. Mostly working class people, there are various factories in the area where people work.

Okay, Dallas is just for you. They have a great school system for the area, EXCELLENT shopping and UNBEATABLE resturants. Mr. Sushi is cool. The malls are amazing. Colin Creek, Dallas Galleria, and The Shops at Willow Bend are my favorite. People of all nationalities live there, my family was concerned moving there, too, because we were comming from Hungary. It's really easy to make friends and everything there. Frisco is a younger community, lots of kids there. I think you'll like it, good luck!

I used to live in Houston and now live in Dallas so I can't really compare Austin..but I'd say Houston. They have a WAY bigger asian community and I believe Houston as a city is a lot better.
