I don't know if this question can ever be answered. What do you all think?
If I could choose one QB, in his prime for just one play to win the Super Bowl...i would want Joe Montana.
If I could choose one QB, in his prime for just one drive to win the Super Bowl...I would want John Elway.
If I could choose one QB, in his prime for just one game to win the Super Bowl...I would want Johnny Unitis.
If i want a QB for pure statistical purposes...I would want Dan Marino.
Your thoughts.

I like Brett Favre, but he just didn't fit into the categories I chose.
That's what is wrong in trying to have a discussion on here...everyone thinks everyone else's opinion is wrong and then insults them.

There can never be a 'Greatest of all Time' QB...too many different variables....I love you list though...seems familiar! ha!

In any situation with the game on the line, my #1 is Joe Montana every time...Coolest QB under pressure...Statistics didn't get Dan Marino a Super Bowl ring, and as good as Elway was at comebacks, he only finally won the big one in his final 2 years...My #2 would be Tom Brady...If Brady wins a couple more Super Bowls, then I would seriously think that he probably passes Joe Montana as #1 all time...

This question will never have a definitive answer. There are so many arguments for so many QB's. Like you said, in different situations i would want different QB's. 2 minutes and left and you need a drive to win, i would want either elway or manning, these guys run the best 2 minute offense i have ever seen. Brady is up there for the 2 minute offense, but it just seems to me like he gets bailed out by other players/things every time. Anyway, like i was saying, you could have an argument for any of these QB's, even some that you left out such as Bart Starr among others.
This is a question of opinion, of which everybody has a difference in. I have this argument all the time with all of my friends and there is never an answer. Its like bringing up the abortion question, it just starts a never ending argument.
In MY opinion, Peyton Manning will be the best all time by the end of his carreer.

Good list and great players!! Because of the different rules and the different eras it is hard to compare any position over the years. Probably Super Bowl play is the best way as they are playing the best team(other than themselves) at that time. If that is the case, Montana would have to be it. No interceptions in his Super Bowls, That is hard to beat. Also the last minute drive against Cincinnati (the second time) and his passing percentage and rating. To me, he would have to be the best!

I think its impossible to pick 1 QB for all time. Its like saying whats the greatest rock song ever written. To many variables, different era of play.
You have a good list started...
arm: Elway
heart: farve, unitas, lane, bradshaw
skill and poise: Montana

It's hard to compare QBs across the decades. So many aspects of the game have changed. I'd have to day modern QBs are better athletes than previous generations, but the old guys were better thinkers and game managers.

No there can't and the passer ratings (among other things) prove it. the great Johnny Unitas is equivalent to Rex Grossman!
I think Brady replaces Elway on your list, and I am not a bandwagon Pats fan.
I also think that Namath replaces Unitas there. Remember 1969? And I am not a Jets fan.

No, I don't think you can objectively compare QBs from different generations. The game has changed, the role of the QB relative to the rest of the team has changed. What it takes to play QB has changed. You can't really compare.

Where the hell is Brett Favre? How can you NOT consider him to be one of the greatest QB's of all time? If you don't there is something seriously wrong with you.

It is between Brady and Manning. whoever has more rings at the end of their career will go down as the greatest ever. Manning is the best passer ever and Brady is the most clutch.
