All of the other plug wires have wire cores that bend over and touch the fittings.

This one has white hair like stuff in the core. and it is also coated in plastic. Should I treat these hairs like wire or is there something else that needs to be done. Any tips would be great thanks.

The fitting does not fold over and spike in the top. That would be nice.

Chad,,what I do on that type of wire is
Twist the fibers into a single strand,,,
and fold it back over the cable the same way you would do the Core Conductor,
Try to get it approximately Opposite to core wire.

Many folks simply cut it off.

Folding it back over the cable make a stronger physical connection, and better reinforces the cable/end when tugging on it.

Good luck with your project

The connectors that came with the wires should have a point on the brass tab. Slide the boot over the cable, insert the point of the brass tab into the center conductor (The fiber core), then crimp.

That white hair stuff is carbon impregnated fiberglass and is called supressor wire. The solid core stuff with metal wire inside is the old time stuff, as in mid 20th century. They went to supressor wire to supress or eliminate the ignition ticking noise from coming through the radio when on AM stations. The old stuff will also make lines appear on the TV screen when you drive by someone trying to watch the news.
