Poll: Would you be willing to RECEIVE one less gift this year in order to GIVE that sum of money otherwise?

Would you ask your family and friends to give you one less gift this year and instead give that amount to a homeless shelter or a charity of your choice?

Puppy - I am getting to know you through answers and just knew that you do! :)

harley_wife - I am starting to dislike the "Gift Giving" part myself. I would rather this money spent go towards helping others. I think that this will be the last year that I will recieve gifts, next year I will set up something else for people to donate towards/to instead of giving me a gift.

blackkrayon - That is so great that you are doing this.

Yes, that's why my daughter, my friend and I have adopted a child in Ethiopia and pledged to send monthly sum to help him and his family!

Without a doubt. I honestly wish there was no gift giving at Christmas. I would be perfectly content with the music, the food, the get-togethers, church and a family meal.

I would be fine if we just gave gifts to the children and what we would spend on the adults - spend on a children that will not be getting anything.

Well the other way around. We also have a gift for the one that isn't with us.. but the principal is the same.
